Fiesta del Vino, literally "wine party", is a phrase you get to know pretty well in the Alpujarras...the region produces a great deal of very good wine, fortunately not a lot of it has found its way onto the export market yet, and so there is loads to go round for those of us in the region!!
Polopos celebrates its Fiesta del Vino in early March, in common with many other villages in the region, and the village nearly bursts at the seams...
Paella and drink of all descriptions is provided free of charge to everyone who comes to the village, and its a really welcoming day to be around the place...
Live music plays all day, and with the wine flowing, a party atmosphere soon gets going - everyone dancing with everyone else...
Wonderful Paella, supplied by local hotels, is quickly demolished!!
The Spanish are no strangers to partying on a biiig scale....
